Little Lady Larkin

Larkin and her mommy met me on a beautiful afternoon at Mercer Arboretum, where the little one was fresh from a nap and feeling fine! Larkin was commemorating her first birthday with some in-the-park portraits.

Happy birthday, sweet little cherub-faced lady!

Sarah, one year

I had the privilege to work with sweet little Sarah when she was just a newborn-- so I was very happy to hear that her parents wanted one-year portraits. She was just as cooperative as can be, in a beautiful pale yellow dress that was a gift from her late grandfather, smiling and giggling and doing her very best to be little Miss Independent. We shot on a sunny morning at Mercer Arboretum in Spring; if you haven't been out to Mercer, I'd highly recommend a visit! It's always full of beautiful butterflies, birds, and dragonflies, and the groundskeepers there do an amazing job of keeping the florals looking fantastic.

Shortly after our shoot, Sarah became a big sister to her brand new little brother Jacob! Congratulations to Mom & Dad : )

Ooooooh, flowers!

So I was rooting around in Mercer Arboretum one day before a bridal portrait session, wielding my macro lens (it's great for capturing tiny details), hoping to catch some pretty bugs and blooming flowers up-close and personal. Mercer didn't let me down! It had rained pretty hard earlier in the day, and the sky was blessing me with that not-too-bright light (photographer's dream!) that really allowed the vibrant colors to come through. Some of these images actually made their way into frames and are displayed throughout my home-- really interesting macro photography is one of my favorite hobbies. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do! For the entire Artistry of Nature collection, visit the gallery.
