Emily and Mike... pretty pastels!

Emily and Mike were married at the Hotel Galvez in late March. I met Emily's family for the first time at a bridal fair in Galveston last August, and it was great to see everyone again on the day of the wedding!

What a beautiful day it was-- the sun was shining, sky was blue, and the Veranda Room was full of beautiful light. Emily and Mike's choice of a bright Tiffany-Box blue and tropical orchids for their wedding decor worked so well with the pale, butter-yellow walls at the Galvez. Combined with the crisp light linens and bouquets, it made for a fresh spring palette.

Mike and the guys opted for vintage-inspired tuxedos and some pretty unusual shoes... you'll have to scroll through the images to see. The ceremony brought an air of formality, but as the night wore on the tone of the event evolved into a very laid-back breezy speakeasy feel.

Many thanks to Haley of En Vogue Events for her expert coordination throughout the day!

Joyce & Guy

Joyce and Guy had a sweet, intimate ceremony on the beach in Galveston this past December. We were right across Seawall Boulevard from the Hotel Galvez, and to the west was the Flagship Hotel and the remains of several buildings that had been torn from their pier foundations by Hurricane Ike this fall. It was great to be there, great to see things returning to normal, great to see good old Rev. John Bostock again (who weathered the storm in his residence in Downtown Galveston... evidently he had a giant fiberglass fish from Joe's Crab Shack wash up on his balcony).

But back to Joyce and Guy... such sweet, fun people. They showed up with friends and a cooler full of champagne (for a toast afterward). It rained all day and I think we were all scared there would have to be some sort of Plan B... but much to my surprise as I drove to the beach... the sun came out and shone on them for their entire ceremony. It was one of those beautifully lit situations where we've got a dark and ominous sky in the background, but pretty soft light falling on the people. Add to that Joyce's long, flowing red hair and you've got the stuff dreams is made of!

Kristin & Ryan

Kristin and Ryan were married on Galveston Island, and were just absolute peaches to work with. Kristin was classic understated elegance in her vintage-inspired silk sheath gown-- which paired beautifully not only with Ryan and his suspenders (which I think he thoroughly enjoyed wearing), but the historic Hotel Galvez's Veranda. It was chilly, but we had the opportunity to take a post-ceremony limo ride around Galveston and shoot some fun and romantic "just married" pictures. The cow on the wall at Ben & Jerry's is my personal favorite; though I do favor the "accidentally artsy" rear-view mirror shot (the sun was shining directly into my camera lens, but the resulting shot is actually kinda cool).

The reception was rockin' and rollin' with one of the best party bands I have ever seen or heard, The Pee Wee Bowen Band. For the umpteenth time, we send our thanks out to Kelly of Eventology Weddings, who coordinated the day.

Extra congratulations to Kelly-- she was recently voted Houston's Top Wedding Planner by The Knot!

Without further ado... here are some of my favorites from Kristin' & Ryan's wedding:
