Sarah's Senior Portraits

Well, let's start by saying that Sarah was one of my favorite little silly redheaded cousins when we were growing up. She was a junior bridesmaid in my wedding, and she's grown into a gorgeous young lady who will be graduating from Katy High School this year! I'm so proud of her and just love her to pieces-- she's always been a pretty special kid.

I've done a few senior sessions in the past, but I'd love to do more because we had SO much fun the afternoon we set out for Sarah's (Mom joined us)... we found a lovely railroad since she wanted to incorporate a train/railroad into her pics somehow, then headed over to one of my favorite sunny-day spots (the Sabine Street Bridge) for outfit #2 and some great in-her-boots-in-the-grass shots. Here are some of my favorites from her shoot!

Brenda & Roel's Engagement Portraits

Brenda and Roel are getting married this August, so we thought engagement portraits during the cooler springtime would be a good idea.

We met downtown near Hotel Icon and strolled the sidewalks full of interesting architectural elements and of course, COLOR! Afterward we headed down to the Sabine Street bridge for a different feel. I think we got some really great results! These two are so very photogenic, it was difficult to narrow down which images to use for the blog : )

Courtney & David's Engagement Portraits

Courtney and David are engaged and getting married this summer! They were a referral from a wonderful family friend, Phyllis... I'm so glad to be working with them : )

For their engagement portraits we met under the bridge on Sabine Street near Allen Parkway, just before sunset, on an absolutely gorgeous day. It was one of those days when everyone was itching to get out and stretch their legs after a couple of weeks of dreary-rainy-cold-muck-- we couldn't have ordered up a nicer evening. Good thing, too, since I was stuck in traffic for-ev-er because some kind of fuel truck overturned on a feeder road, and ran a little late.

After we were done underneath the bridge, we came on up to the top for the classic Houston-skyline shots!

Susan & Buddy's Engagement Portraits

I've photographed two of Susan's nephews... Susan's sister and brother-in-law, and Susan was a bridesmaid in Marcie & Ed's wedding earlier this year (Buddy was also a groomsman). I'm so excited that in January it will be Susan & Buddy's turn to tie the knot and be the center of attention!

Their engagement portrait shoot was somewhat of a challenge... their fantastic photographer scheduled them without taking daylight savings time into account on a dark and cloudy day, so by the time we got Downtown from having been at the WIlliams Tower Waterwall, well... we were out of light.

We rescheduled to finish the rest of the shoot on another day-- and what did we get that day? RAIN! Luckily they were troopers, and we completed the Downtown portion of our shoot (rainy day, we practically had Downtown to ourselves). Cloudy, rainy days give us the benefit of soft, diffused light-- perfect for shooting : )

I'm hoping that their rain-karma will be better on the wedding day, and that they have beautiful happy clear blue skies. We shoot Susan's bridal portraits this coming week at The Parador, so I'm also hoping we have at least a little light coming in the windows (not to worry, I"m packing plenty of my own light!).

I played a little with textures on a few of the images, just to add a little extra drama.
